Hacker involved in MPAA-Torrentspy fight

Posted on May 30th, 2006.

MPAA is accused to pay $15,000 to a hacker to steal email correspondence and trade secrets of Torrentspy. Torrentspy also stated that the man involved has admitted his role in the plot. But this is denied by the MPAA’s vice president.

“These claims (by Torrentspy) are false,” Kori Bernards, the MPAA’s vice president of corporate communications, said in an e-mail to CNET News.com. “Torrentspy is trying to obscure the facts to hide the fact that they are facilitating thievery. We are confident that our lawsuit against them will be successful because the law is on our side.”

Torrentspy actually do not host any copyrighted materials but they offer links to download the materials. For this time being, The Pirate Bay is the most invincible torrent site. For them legal threats are only daily jokes.
