As 2006 is approaching the end, ZDNet have published the top 10 list of most downloaded software from their website. Below is the list, maybe it will help you to find new software for upcoming 2007. :)

1. Spyware Doctor 4
Spyware Doctor
This popular and fast utility can remove spyware, adware, Trojan horses, and keyloggers from your computer. It is free to try, but you have to pay $29.95 for the full version

2. Webroot Spy Sweeper
Webroot Spy Sweeper
This is another popular Anti Spyware software. The limitation of free version is the spyware removal is disabled. Pay $29.95 for a full version

3. Limewire
Limewire
This a P2P file-sharing program for all types of files. The best part of this software is, it is free. But, I am always disappointed when downloading something, because what I get is always a corrupted or blank files.

4. ICQ
Communicate instantly using the latest version of this popular chat client.
This popular chat client allows you to communicate with your friends via Internet. But I prefer to use Yahoo Instant Messenger because I don’t have to create another account, just using the Yahoo account. With the new version of Yahoo Messenger, you can chat with MSN Messenger users too!

5. Morpheus
Search multiple P2P networks including BitTorrent to download MP3s, videos, and games.
This is another P2P file-sharing client. The ability to search multiple P2P networks including the Neo Network, Gnutella and BitTorrent is the advantage of this client. But I prefer using uTorrent as my bittorrent client.

6. Spybot - Search & Destroy
Spybot search and destroy
This program ca search your hard disk and Registry for threats to your security and privacy. According to editors’ review on Download.com, this program is good to protect you from Spyware, but it has too many bugs.

7. Winzip 11

Winzip 11
WinZip is the original and most popular of all Windows ZIP file utilities. But now I am using WinRar. Besides you can also try an open source ZIP program, 7Zip.

8. Lexa Organizer
Lexa Organizer
Lexa Organizer is an effective task manager which can help you to organize your personal life and work. This software is very suitable for those, who have unorganized life. My life is already well-organized. I don’t need this.

9. Real Player 10
Real Player 10
You need this program to play real media files. But as an alternative, you can use Windows Media Player Classic from K-Lite codec pack. The player can play almost everything!

10. Clean Center

Clean center
CleanCenter will find and clean junk files on your pc, so that your pc can run faster. It comes with a full working free 15 day trial. The full version will cost you $19.95

From the list above, only one application is installed on my computer, Real Player 10. It is because I don’t need the other softwares. Besides, I don’t have money to buy the program. Freeware is my first choice. By the way, Happy New Year! May this year bring all of us lucks and wealth!

Limewire contains a trojan or something right? Better look into it…

The program itself is safe, but the content you download is the real threat. Sometimes, you think that you have downloaded an MP3 song, but it is actually a trojan.

The list is based on the programs, which are downloaded from ZDNet. I download my torrent client from the official site. So are the others :)
